True Freedom: Salt and Light

Are you free? What does it mean to be free? Perhaps you have heard of the four freedoms: “the freedom of speech, the freedom of worship, the freedom from want, and the freedom from fear” (https://www.fdrlibrary.org/four-freedoms). Freedom is a word that Americans consider very important. It is an important word for Christians also. Paul wrote, “For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” 2 Corinthians 3:17.
The opposite of freedom is slavery—no choice in what you must do. Paul warned us: “For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love” Galatians 5:13.
True freedom is about serving, not out of coercion, but out of love. Be free!
