Trinium “Spotlight On” Brent Aspiras
By Brent Aspiras and Brent Davis
Brent Aspiras, MSN-Ed., BS, RN, is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Nursing. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology-Physiology from California State University, Long Beach (2012), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the American University of Health Sciences (2016), and a Master of Science degree in Nursing Education, also from AUHS (2023). He came to AUHS as a student in the fall of 2013, part of cohort 14, which he claims is “Ms. Alma’s favorite cohort.” Ten years later, he enrolled in the master’s program (“thank you, Larry, for helping me out”). He then came to work at AUHS in 2019 as a clinical instructor. “I wanted to give back to the school that was so instrumental in me becoming a nurse.”
Prof. Aspiras is a native Californian, raised in Long Beach. Both of his parents were influential in his choice to work in healthcare. His mother is a retired registered nurse, and his father is a clinical laboratory scientist. He has a younger brother who works in LA County. His parents instilled the values of sacrifice and hard work in him and encouraged him to strive for his goals, to study hard, and to make good decisions with the future in mind.
A fun fact about Professor Aspiras is that most of the students know him as the guy who dresses up as Spider-Man at Comic-Con. He also enjoys going to the gym, volunteering at church, and going out to eat with his friends.
“I’m looking forward to continuing teaching at AUHS and inspiring the next generation of nurses, especially those who plan to work in the field of mental health. I’m living the dream!”
For all these reasons, we are shining the spotlight on Brent “Spiderman” Aspiras. You are an inspiration to our students!
