Student Profile: Nonso Anene

Where am I from

My name is Nonso Anene, I am a Christian; I was born in Lagos, Nigeria. I came to the United States for the very first time in 2011 but moved here permanently in 2018.

What did I do before AUHS

Before AUHS, I worked as a certified nursing assistant.

Why nursing?

Initially, my dad was the one who told me to go into nursing, but right before starting, I did my research and gained so much interest in the nursing field. It started because of obedience and moved to having a deep passion for it.

Why AUHS?
I found out about AUHS from a friend. When I heard about AUHS and how close it would be, it made me a lot more interested because I wanted to go to nursing school but still be close to home. I function a lot better when I’m close to family, so it was a no-brainer for me.

What is important to me?

My family is without a doubt very important to me. My faith is also really important to me. My faith has gotten me through a lot of difficult situations in life, and I’m grateful to God for what He has done in my life.

  What are my future plans?

Currently my plan includes working hard in nursing school to achieve my goal of graduating and finishing strong. As a tutor for AUHS, my other goal would be to help other students who are struggling. I would love to use the knowledge I have obtained to impact the lives of other students and make nursing school a little easier for them. As for my plans post-graduation, I plan on continuing my education and getting my doctorate in nursing to become a nurse practitioner.
