Recent Uptick of COVID Cases and LA County Health Guidelines

     There has been a recent increase in the COVID-19 infection rate within Los Angeles County. It is so evident even on our own campus. We have had staff, faculty, and students who reported respiratory symptoms caused directly by the COVID-19 virus. According to the LA County Public Health website, as of July 22, 2022, there were 8,091 new cases reported. The total cases reported are 3,253,323.      Out of these figures, as of July 22, 2022, 20 deaths have occurred from the 8,091 infected. LA County has rolled out mandates again wherein masking is required in certain places. LAC | DPH | Mask Wearing Rules and Recommendations 

When you wear a mask, you protect others as well as you. Masks work best when everyone wears one. COVID-19 virus spreads mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets. Respiratory droplets are released into the air when people breathe, speak, sing, cough, shout, or sneeze. These droplets can then land in the mouths or noses of nearby people or they may breathe the droplets in.
