By Alma Pineda, Registrar

The annual National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Conference, held this year in New Orleans, proved to be an invaluable experience for the senior officers, Ms. Ivy Javaluyas, Executive Director, and Ms. Alma Pineda, Assistant Director from the AUHS Student Affairs department. Ms. Javaluyas and Ms. Pineda attended the conference, where they immersed themselves in a wealth of information related to the latest developments in student affairs, policies, and strategies to better support students in an evolving higher educational landscape.

The NASPA conference provided an unparalleled opportunity for Ms. Ivy and Ms. Alma to engage with industry experts and thought leaders. Throughout the event, they participated in several sessions focusing on critical issues impacting student affairs today, including emerging trends in student academic support, alumni engagement, and technological innovations designed to enhance student experience. Workshops and presentations highlighted the most current policy changes and best practices aimed at improving campus environments and student outcomes.

Beyond the wealth of information shared during the sessions, one of the most valuable aspects of the NASPA conference was the opportunity to connect with their counterparts from other institutions worldwide. The event facilitated a rich networking environment where student affairs professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds and institutions of all sizes and types could exchange ideas, discuss common challenges, and forge partnerships for future collaboration. These connections are vital for sharing resources, tools, and support that can be directly applied to improve the student experience at AUHS.

Attending the NASPA Annual Conference in New Orleans enabled AUHS’s Student Affairs senior officers not only to expand their knowledge but also to develop meaningful relationships with other student affairs professionals. The knowledge gained about new trends, policy shifts, and student support strategies will enable them to enhance further the quality of services and programs offered to AUHS students. Their participation in this prestigious event reflects AUHS’s commitment to fostering a supportive and forward-thinking environment for all its students.
