A New Year to Give Thanks

“Let the peace of Christ rule your hearts, since as members of one body, you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

– Colossians 3: 15-17

God is always in control and knows what is best for His children. While 2020 was a year filled with ups-and-downs and challenges, it was also a year that had God’s blessings. And the same will occur for this new year in 2021. The past year can be seen as a reflection of ourselves and what we can do to make the new year an even better one. In doing so, we should first start the year by giving thanks to God. Even showing appreciation for the littlest of things, it is still God who provided us that first breath of life and the endless opportunities for us to experience and thrive on. Second, we should also show more care and love towards those who are around us. If somebody seems to be in distress or is saddened about something, do not be afraid to cheer them up with God’s Word, for His Word is devotional wisdom that will guide us through anything.
